Clinical Staff

ANISSA MEACHAM, MS, CCC-SLP

AnissaAnissa received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education in 1998 from Glenville State College in Glenville, WV. She graduated in 2002 from Radford University with a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. She is currently finishing her doctoral degree in Speech & Hearing Sciences at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, with a specialization in pediatric language disorders, primarily birth to five years, and a secondary specialization is in pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders. Though the adult population is not her area of doctoral research, she has continued to maintain clinical skills in working with adults in need of cognitive rehabilitation following stroke or head injury. She is also Certified Vital Stim therapy provider, which she uses in addressing swallowing dysfunction following cancer treatment, head injury, or stroke.  She has worked in the public schools, hospitals, nursing homes, home health, and with early intervention.  Anissa lives in Abingdon, VA with her husband, Luke, and their dog, Mayzie.  Anissa can be reached at anissa@speechgeek.net.

SHEA BARTZ, MS, CCC-SLP

SheaShea completed her undergraduate and graduate education at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA.   She graduated in 1995 with a Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology.  Shea’s primary clinical interests include pediatric language and speech disorders, especially within the preschool and school age population. Shea works in collaboration with the Infant and Toddler Connection of Virginia to provide home-based early intervention to pediatric patients in Russell County, VA.  She also provides clinic-based articulation and language therapies for school age children as well as for adults following stroke or head injury.  Shea lives in Abingdon, VA and enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Chandler, and three children, Elise, Connor, & Abby.  Shea can be reached at shea@speechgeek.net.


ASHLEY ADAMS, MA, CCC-SLP

ASHLEYAshley completed her undergraduate and graduate education at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.  She graduated in 2001 with a Master of Arts degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences.  Ashley’s primary interests include pediatric language and pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders, particularly with the birth to three population.  She has been trained and certified in the Hanen Program which is used to facilitate family centered early language intervention.  Ashley works in collaboration with the Infant and Toddler Connection of Virginia to provide home-based early intervention to pediatric patients in Washington County, VA.  She also provides clinic-based articulation and language therapies for preschool and school age children.  Ashley lives in Abingdon and enjoys spending her free time outdoors with her husband and two daughters.  Ashley can be reached at ashley@speechgeek.net.


JENNIFER McNEW, MS, CCC-SLP

JENNIFERJennifer received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from East Tennessee State University in 1997.  In 2007, she received a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN.  Her clinical interests include school-age speech and language disorders as well as adult language and swallowing disorders following stroke or head injury.  Jennifer serves the children in Sullivan County Public Schools in Blountville, TN on a full-time basis.  Beyond her regular work day, she provides home- and clinic-based speech therapy services for adults on an as needed basis for Speech Geek, LLC.  Jennifer lives in Glade Spring, VA with her husband, Jerry. 


SAMANTHA WAMPLER, MS, CCC-SLP

Samantha received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Radford University and a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from East Tennessee State University in 2003.  Her clinical interests are preschool phonological disorders and school-age speech and language disorders, including those children who are having difficulty with reading and spelling. Samantha works full time for Elizabethton City Schools in Elizabethton, TN.  Beyond her regular work day, she provides home- and clinic-based speech therapy services on an as needed basis for Speech Geek, LLC.  Samantha enjoys collaborating with the Infant and Toddler Connection of Virginia and the Tennessee Early Intervention System to provide home-based early intervention to pediatric patients in Bristol, VA and Sullivan County, TN.  Samantha lives in Blountville, TN and enjoys spending her free time with her husband Eric, and her children, Owen & Ainsley.

RACHEL BANKS

rachelRachel joined Speech Geek in 2008.  She lives in Abingdon with her husband, Barry, and three beautiful daughters—Katyln, Kylie, & Kassie.  Rachel is a student at Virginia Highlands Community College where she is studying business.  In her spare time, Rachel enjoys cake decorating, sewing, and photography.  Rachel can be reached at rachel@speechgeek.net.
